I’m a sucker for ripe avocados, they speak to me in the grocery store: “we’re ready Jon… what are you wating for… grip us, feel our soft supple bodies….”. Ahhhh, well… anyway, I always end up with two avocados if they’re ripe, then I have to do something with them, and often that thing is Guacamole! I love fooling around with recipes once I have some basic idea of how they work, and being all too familiar with the lemon juice, onion, tomato, salt & pepper guacamole recipe I mixed things up considerably this time around and it turned out great! So for prosperity:
2 avocados
lemon juice
tahini
1/2 a medium white onion
green onions
1 large tomato
chili powder
lemon zest
nutritional yeast
garlic (pressed)
raw sunflower seeds
toasted sesame seeds
The avocados are mashed up with a fork (they really need to be ripe!) add some lemon juice and tahini (I added about 2 dallops of tahini, I could have done more I think), and I added enough lemon juice to make the consistency right (sorry folks I don’t measure stuff). The onions and tomato are cut into small pieces, add an amount of garlic that makes you happy (I’m a 2-4 clove kind of guy, depending on my mood). Add enough chili powder to avoid being afraid… I think I added about 1tsp and it’s a very pleasant level of spicy for me. You don’t need nutritional yeast, but damn it’s tasty stuff (and full of B12), I added a fair amount maybe 2T. The lemon zest, sunflower and sesame seeds can be added in amounts that make you happy, everything in moderation right?
Anyway, this isn’t exactly neurological science so despite the lack of specific details you should have no trouble putting together something tasty :) Here’s a shot of the finished result with some delicious multigrain corn chips.
